Please note: As of 02 February 2020 the Schengen visa fee per person (Short Stay Visa) will increase from 60 to 80 euros or the equivalent amount in your local currency. For children between 6-12 years old the visa fee will increase to 40 euros or equivalent.

All Finnish missions abroad and organisations issuing visas, including the Border Guard, Finnish Customs and the Police, started to use the new EU visa sticker on 11 November 2019. Regulation (EU) 2017/1370, amending Council Regulation (EC) No 1683/95 on a uniform format for visas, was adopted on 4 July 2017. All Member States must start using the new visa sticker by 21 December 2019. The introduction of the new visa sticker does not require any measures from visa applicants. Visas issued before 11 November 2019 will be valid for the period of validity indicated on the visa sticker.

In December - March, the Embassy is usually overloaded with applications. We recommend applying for a seasonal / other work permit in advance during the year. An application for a work permit can be submitted as soon as you have the necessary documents. The rule "not earlier than three months before the start of work" applies only to visa applicants.
During the Christmas holidays from 16 December 2019 to 07 January 2020 the Embassy will not accept an application for a residence permit in Finland.

Starting from 11 March 2019, the Embassy of Finland has opened additional slots for registration of applicants for filing documents for obtaining a residence permit and work permit.
You can register for filing as before by calling the Visa Center: +380 44 594 1269 (8.30 - 15.30).
In the case of a new registration for the filing of documents, we ask you to cancel the preliminary registration by calling the visa center.

Applicants are requested to make a note that as per the recent development towards visa free regime for citizens of Ukraine which will allow visa free travel to Schengen countries effective 11 June 2017 for citizens who hold biometric passports. In order to find more information in this regards, applicants are requested to visit Embassy website ( http://www.finland.org.ua) or visit “Open Europe http://openeurope.in.ua/ website which is a campaign launched by EU-Delegation in Ukraine to inform Ukrainians about opportunities and obligations which comes with the upcoming visa freedom.
Applicant are also requested to make a note that as per the directives from the Embassy Finland applicants holding biometrics passport need not apply for Schengen C -visa effective 1 June 2017 as they will have the possibility to travel to Schengen countries without a visa.

For seasonal workers` attention
You can work in Finland without residence permit in case your work is picking up berries or fruits or vegetables or work at fur farms and in general requested visa period is not longer than 90 days. Please note that other agricultural works require residence permit in spite of requested visa period. For internship residence permit is also required.
On the internet-page of the Embassy of Finland there is information for farmers accreditation provided in Finnish. Documents submission for farmers` accreditation has been closed in 12 February 2016. After processing these documents farmers will be informed by the Embassy about accreditation decision. Submission for seasonal work visa starts in 03 March 2016.
All applicants that apply for a visa should be present while applying for a visa for enrolling biometrics data (fingerprints). This does not concern applicants who have already enrolled fingerprints for Schengen visa.
Embassy pays attention of applicants that they are responsible for provided in Application Form information and additional submitted documents.

Ukrainian citizens and people legally residing in Ukraine would need to appear in person in order to provide biometric data from 23 June 2015.
Please note that effective 23 June 2015, Ukrainian citizens and people legally residing in Ukraine would need to appear in person in order to provide biometric data (fingerprints and digital photography),this concerns the applications for the short-term Schengen visas (max. 90 days in 180 days).
